Summer Solstice Retreat 2024
For our annual Summer Solstice retreat, we wove a tapestry of midsummer magic together with friends old and new.
We stayed nestled between both river and mountainside in Hanna, Utah where 16 of us showed up with open hearts to the beauty we could create together as we honored this moment in the seasonal calendar.
At every gathering we acknowledge the land and her people and at this retreat we also made offerings to the land, as a community and individually.
Our community discussion on enchantment was an opportunity for us to learn and share with each other the ways we are connected to the wide world of humans and every other living being around us.
Everyone had a chance to be guided in crafting their own beautiful astro natal Wheel of the Year as part of the afternoon workshops.
Scottish Waulking was also taught in the afternoons as an example of communal song and oral traditions and there was genuine joy experienced at the group singing by the end of each session.
On the evening of the full moon, we created space to practice divination in big and small groups with a wide range of more light hearted readings to ones that touched at the deeper things we each hold in life.
We were introduced to the concept of the Wheel of Consent as a way to increase enchantment and respect in our relationships.
Time was available for walks, hikes and taking dips in the river as a way to connect with the land around us and each other.
We were thoroughly nourished by the love-filled efforts of our wonderful food team. The intentionality of every meal, snack and drink had us all completely delighted at every turn.
Each night ended with a bedtime story and lullaby and our final celebration evening ended with the most gorgeous offerings of poems, music and dance from the community.
Our final celebration was our dress up Summer Solstice Soiree. We danced and sang Små Grodorna, wove over and under the colorful ribbons of the Maypole and learned a simple Morris dance before moving and grooving to everyone’s favorite songs until the sun set and darkness fell.
It was truly an enchanting weekend spent honoring land, ancestors and each other as we celebrated the Summer, in all her glory.
