Beltane 2024

Our Beltane gathering this year taught us to give way to what is present in the land in a specific moment in time.

We had planned to celebrate this fire festival outside with dancing and playfulness. Instead we heeded the call of the rain that relentlessly fell outside, nourishing the earth, bringing mists to the mountains and inviting us all inside together to practice being more fluid and flowing in our relationship with the land and each other.

We were delighted to be able to be warm and dry in Sonja’s beautiful plant filled home. Our abundant communal breakfast was the most delicious combination of sweet pastries and savory dishes.

Sonja shared her heart, wisdom and experience with cultivating self-compassion and beautifully led us through some exercises to help us better love ourselves with grace and understanding.

We learned of the land-focused rituals and traditions surrounding Beltane and May Day and considered how the land we live on might see us.

Our storytime was a tale from the Isle of Skye called The Makers of Dreams, which helped give us a framework for being patient and gentle with ourselves as we deepen and develop relationships with the land around us.

One of our favorite parts of our gatherings are the beautiful and fun songs we are able to sing together and then carry back with us to fill the spaces between gatherings. Our enthusiastic rendition of the May song, Hal-an-tow, was pure joy.

We offered our hearts to the May Queen as we enter a year of holding more space and intention around our relationships with the lands we live on and with.

Beltane marked the 2nd Anniversary of Nourishing Kin! It is an honor to be in community with you all!
