Imbolc 2023

In the first hints of Spring amidst the snow of Winter, we gathered for Imbolc at a private residence in Draper, Utah. We opened with a welcome and land acknowledgement before enjoying a communal dinner with warm soups and sides.

Our discussion featured a seasonal check-in as well as learning about the traditions of Imbolc and the Celtic goddess Brigid. We discussed the nuances of Christian Imperialism and paganism and how we might channel and honor the figure of Brigid.

We learned to craft Brigid’s Crosses before closing the night with a mullein torch ritual. We covered mullein stalks harvested at Mabon in 2022 with beeswax and ritual herbs, stood them in the snow, and burned them to call in the Spring. Imbolc was a bright celebration in the depths of a long winter.
